Dominican Holidaze Responds to Hurricane Maria

Dominican Holidaze released a statement regarding Hurricane Maria, which hit the Dominican Republic last week as a Category 3 storm, with wind gusts of 58 MPH in Punta Cana, where this year's event is set to take place December 1-5. In a Facebook post organizers have said:

"We have received word that the resorts are in good shape and the recent storms will not have any impact on the event. They were very fortunate and we send our best to everyone that was affected. Our team will be visiting the resorts this week and we are super excited to bring you all to the Dominican Republic in just a few months!"

Hurricane Maria dumped six inches of rain on the Dominican Republic and left approximately 60,000 residents without power. Earlier this month the island was hit by Hurricane Irma. The Hurricane Season lasts from June 1 to November 30, so this may not be the end of adverse weather for the area.

Dominican Holidaze is in their 11th year and will take place at Breathless and Now Onxy Resorts for the third year in a row. The event is a collaboration between jam scene favorites The Disco Biscuits, Umphrey's McGee and STS9. This year's event will also feature Joe Russo's Almost Dead, Lotus, Griz, Tauk, Stafford, The Motet, Sunsquabi, Wolf + Lamb and a poolside set by Brendan Bayliss.

The Melomaniacs will offer updates as they are announced, please check back for more information.
