Jeff Lloyd Pens “A Little Song” For His Newborn Nephew

Today Jeff Lloyd posted an original song that he dedicated to his newborn nephew Teddy Little. Teddy was born to Jeff’s sister Emily Lloyd Little and her husband Benjamin Little earlier this week. The Heavy Pets guitar player is clearly a proud uncle as he busted out “A Little Song” to celebrate the addition to his family. Jeff originally wrote the song in college but it hadn’t seen the light of day in quite some time.

“I pulled it out – actually an old friend sent me a recording because didn’t have one. I couldn’t remember all of the lyrics. So I wrote them down and realized they were kind of pertinent on a few levels and then I decided to record it for him,” said Jeff.

Check out Jeff’s original post below complete with the song’s heartfelt lyrics.

“A Little Song”

Let it be that somedays seem to pass too slow
If it weren’t for days like these
What would remind you how fast
the other ones go
So always hold on tight to things that make you smile
Cause you just don’t know, will it always be there
Or just for a short while

Try and waste my time a little
Try and lose my mind a little
If you’d only hear just what I say
You might not feel alone
Every day the sun shines a little
Every night the moon cries a little
Every dream has a ways and a means so
dream on dream on

Let it be that somedays skies are filled with rain
Even on some sunny days your pleasure turns to pain
Don’t let your darkest moments set themselves in stone
It’s better living with your memories
Than living all alone

Try and waste my time a little
Try and lose my mind a little
If you’d only hear just what I say
You might not feel alone
Every day the sun shines a little
Every night the moon cries a little
Every dream has a ways and a means so
dream on dream on
