All-Star Tribute to Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Robbie Robertson

On October 17, 2024, the Kia Forum will host an extraordinary musical event, “Life Is A Carnival: A Musical Celebration of Robbie Robertson.” This tribute concert will honor the late Robbie Robertson, The Band‘s legendary guitarist, songwriter, and co-founder, with performances by over 20 renowned artists from various genres.

The event promises unforgettable music, featuring an impressive lineup of artists, including Trey Anastasio, Margo Price, Eric Clapton, Bob Weir, and Warren Haynes. These celebrated musicians will come together to pay homage to Robertson’s enduring influence on rock and roll, blending their unique styles to reimagine his classic works.

In addition to the headline performers, the concert will showcase a diverse array of talent. Notable artists such as Ryan Bingham, Mike Campbell, Eric Church, Elvis Costello, Bruce Hornsby, Jim James, Jamey Johnson, Noah Kahan, Daniel Lanois, Taj Mahal, Van Morrison, Robert Randolph, Nathaniel Rateliff, Allison Russell, Mavis Staples, Benmont Tench, Don Was, and Lucinda Williams will also take the stage. This eclectic mix of musicians reflects the broad appeal of Robertson’s music, which has touched fans across generations and genres.

An esteemed group of executive producers, including iconic filmmaker Martin Scorsese, Jared Levine, Keith Wortman, and Scooter Weintrob, are organizing the event. Blackbird Presents, Live Nation, Citi, and Woodland Cultural Centre are presenting the concert. Notably, Scorsese, who directed the acclaimed concert film The Last Waltz, will lend his expertise to the production, ensuring a memorable tribute befitting Robertson’s legacy.

“Life Is A Carnival” celebrates Robertson’s music and reflects his profound impact on the music industry. As the principal songwriter for The Band, Robertson penned some of the most iconic songs in rock history, such as “The Weight,” “Up on Cripple Creek,” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” His work has left an indelible mark on the musical landscape, influencing countless artists and continuing to resonate with fans worldwide.

In August 2023, Robbie tragically passed away after struggling with several spells of illness. He was 80 years old.
