In a thunderous return to the stage, Marilyn Manson delivered a visceral performance in Philadelphia last Friday. He resurrected one of his most infamous songs, “Get Your Gunn,” for an audience that reveled in the shock rocker’s renewed intensity.

The show, held at The Met as part of Manson’s One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1 U.S. tour, marked a significant moment in the artist’s evolving setlist. “Get Your Gunn,” a controversial staple from Manson’s 1994 debut album Portrait of an American Family, hadn’t been performed live since August 12, 2014 — until this tour’s kickoff in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Philadelphia fans were treated to its sixth performance in over a decade, and it hit with the same fury that once made Manson a household name in countercultural rebellion.

Alongside “Get Your Gunn,” Manson also unleashed “The Long Hard Road Out of Hell,” a deep cut from the Spawn soundtrack that had never appeared in his live repertoire prior to this tour. The addition of both tracks underscores the artist’s willingness to reexamine his catalog while forging ahead with new material.

Manson’s latest single, a brooding, industrial-laced cover of Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight,” also made its way into the setlist. Bathed in red strobes and plumes of fog, the haunting rendition brought a cinematic pause to the otherwise relentless pacing of the show, showcasing Manson’s enduring flair for dramatic reinterpretation.

The tour, supporting his newest studio album, One Assassination Under God—Chapter 1, signals a creative resurgence for Manson. Though the album has yet to be performed in full, its themes of moral decay, political theater, and spiritual unrest have clearly shaped the tour’s aesthetic and energy.

Whether diving into the dark corners of his early catalog or putting his own twisted stamp on classic pop, Manson is making a pointed statement: he’s not only back, but sharper, darker, and more unpredictable than ever.
