Slipknot Could Release Lost Album ‘Look Outside Your Window’ This Year

Legendary metal band Slipknot may release the long-lost album Look Outside Your Window as early as April 2023. The April date is no coincidence, as of April Fool’s Day of this year Slipknot will officially be released from any contractual obligations with their longtime record label Roadrunner Records. Look Outside Your Window came about during the band’s recording sessions for 2008’s All Hope Is Gone. In the past, the music has been described as more similar to Radiohead than anything they’ve put out in the past.

The side-project featuring Slipknot members could finally see the light of day after spending nearly 15 years on the shelf. The project, featuring Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan and other Slipknot members Corey Taylor, Jim Root, and Sid Wilson, was supposed to be released on Christmas Day 2019, but those plans obviously fell through. They ultimately decided against it because they didn’t want it to interfere with their sixth studio album We Are Not Your Kind. To date, only one track from the sessions has been released, the bonus track “Til We Die” from All Hope Is Gone.

In a new interview with Upset Magazine, Clown described Look Outside Your Window as “an amazing body of work. You will never hear another Corey Taylor like this. The music and the words… it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life,” he explained. “We wouldn’t want Slipknot to hurt ‘Look Outside Your Window’, and we wouldn’t want ‘Look Outside Your Window’ to be a little irritation to Slipknot,” continued Clown of why it’s taken so long to share the project. “Why? Because it’s beautiful God art and people deserve it.”

In 2023, Slipknot is set to headline Download Festival alongside Metallica and Bring Me The Horizon. The band is also heading out on a European headline tour and is set to bring their traveling festival Knotfest to Australia for a string of shows.
