News Tour Announcements By Karina Verlan / August 15, 2017 One of the premier funk outfits on the scene, Turkuaz, will hit the road in mid-September for their Fall 2017 Tour with close to 50 dates scheduled all over the nation, featuring guest acts like Sinkane, Con Brio, The Suffers & Pimps of Joytime. This announcement follows an epic weekend of collaboration at The Peach Music Festival in Scranton, PA, where Josh Schwartz, Greg Sanderson and Chris Brouwers represented Turkuaz as the "Artists At Large" for the weekend, sitting in with artists such as Umprey’s McGee, Mike Gordon, Galactic, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and many more. Click here to see Josh Schwartz's Facebook Post "I'm trying to process everything I experienced this weekend but am finding it increasingly difficult to find the words to do so. In one weekend I had the honor of playing and creating with a diverse and prolific array of consummate musicians that I have admired and respected for many years. Many were old friends while others became fast friends. I got weird with Mike Gordon and busted out Bowie with Umphrey's McGee; got dirty with Galactic and literally soaked onstage with The New Mastersounds with nothing but the flashlights of stage hands and those of the awesome crowd undaunted by the sideways rain and smiling as big as we were; got tingles from being able to go full Cocker as well as from morphing into a 14-legged horn behemoth with West End Blend horns for Dopapod; started Friday and Saturday off right with Aqueous and The Werks; participated in a refreshing and joyous musical experiment of combining horns with the beautiful sounds and souls of Greensky Bluegrass and got the people dancing with Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. My brain is bursting with mellifluous melodies, my soul swims in the camaraderie that flowed like light from knowing smile to knowing smile onstage and out to the receptive hearts of the thousands of music fans who cheered along our nine sit-ins and didn't get sick of our squawking all weekend. The staff at The Peach Music Festival were some of the warmest people I've ever worked with and they truly helped make Montage Mountain my home for the last four days (and when we played there the last two months for Camp Bisco and Susquehanna Breakdown). To top all of this off, I got to ride this wild rollercoaster with (and learn much from) Greg Sanderson and Chris Brouwers repping Turkuaz. Oh yeah, and I got to watch and feel the inimitable Chaka Khan and her incredible backup singers bring the house down with Lettuce. And also we saw an actual bear from close range. Yet another bucket list item I got to check off this weekend. Here's to crossing off more items! "Josh Schwartz, Turkuaz Saxophone/Vocals The Rolling Stone highlighted the Greensky Bluegrass & Turkuaz collaboration on "Bring Out Your Dead," and celebrated their sit-ins over the weekend in their article "The Peach Music Festival 2017: 10 Best Things We Saw."The Fall Tour will kick off on September 12 in Arcata, CA and end on December 30 in New Haven, CT. Turkuaz will hit West Coast and Midwest early Fall, East Coast mid-October through November, leading into their MA and CT dates at the end of the year. For more information and tickets, please visit the Turkuaz website.
