In a harmonious collision of innovation, virtuosity, and groove, the acclaimed instrumental quartet TAUK unveils its much-anticipated studio album, EQUALIZER. Today, the band ushers listeners into an electrifying auditory realm where boundaries blur, genres fuse, and musical landscapes evolve.

EQUALIZER emerges as a testament to TAUK’s pioneering spirit, promising an immersive listening experience that challenges the conventions of instrumental music. The album, which has been heralded by the pre-release singles “Melvin’s Mind,” “Sound the Alarm,” and “Home of The Beast,” showcases the band’s unparalleled creativity and an undeniable gift for crafting enthralling sonic journeys.

TAUK’s musical signature, a genre-defying fusion of jazz, funk, rock, and electronica, has carved a distinctive niche in the world of improvisational rock and far beyond. The band, composed of Matt Jalbert (guitar), Charlie Dolan (bass), Alric “A.C.” Carter (keys), and Isaac Teel (drums), is celebrated for their technical prowess, high-energy live performances, and the ability to breathe new life into iconic songs from the archives of music history.

“Sometimes we are searching for the words to put meaning to our music since it is instrumental. We can really call a song or an album anything. But whatever we name it, in the end, the music itself is the equalizer. We actually started working on a lot of this music before we teamed up with Kanika [Moore]. When that project started, we let the work and excitement lead us down that path to put out an album with her. But we still have all of this other music we are always working on. We were so excited to release the album with Kanika and are so proud to have that music out in the world. We also wanted to show our fans that we are still doing what we have always done,” said Matt Jalbert.

The year 2023 has witnessed TAUK’s continued meteoric rise on stages nationwide, captivating audiences at renowned festivals and venues such as the Summer Camp Music Festival, Brooklyn Bowl, Mountain Music Festival, The Peach Music Festival, and The Blue Note Jazz Festival. In June, TAUK partnered with the celebrated powerhouse vocalist Kanika Moore from Charleston, SC, to release the groundbreaking nine-track EP “Tauk Moore,” which has already enthralled fans.

To celebrate the release of EQUALIZER, TAUK is set to launch its second annual Oogie Boogie Nights Halloween event at Denver’s prestigious Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom. The two-night extravaganza promises spine-tingling performances and electrifying collaborations. On October 27, the first night will feature TAUK alongside Dopapod, Shawarma, and special guest DJ Mongo. On October 28, night two will witness a unique TAUK Moore performance, complemented by sets from Dandu and the up-and-coming DJ Sleepy. Both nights will be electrified by sets from the one and only Doom Flamingo.

“The theme for this one is what makes it stand out the most. And I’ll give credit to our tour manager Chris Montooth for the idea. We called the event Oogie Boogie last year. But this year, calling it Oogie Boogie Nights gives it the Boogie Nights theme. That soundtrack has a ton of amazing music on it. So we’re going to keep with the disco vibes and have some super jams with the Dopapod guys playing a bunch of those songs at the end of each night after both of our sets,” said Jalbert.

The album is now available on all major streaming platforms for fans eager to embark on a musical odyssey with EQUALIZER. And for those who crave an immersive live experience, tickets for both nights of Oogie Boogie Nights are available for purchase.
