Pretty Lights Ends Hiatus With New Tour Dates

By Stu Kelly / April 6, 2023

After nearly five years away from the limelight, earlier this week Pretty Lights (Derek Vincent Smith) returned to social media to announce his 2023 Soundship Spacesystem Tour. The string of dates, due to stretch from early August through early December, will feature 27 total dates in nine cities, plus festival appearances at Suwannee Hulaween (10-/26–10/29) and Cascade Equinox Festival (9/22–9/24).

Pretty Lights’ absence from the industry over the past five years has been a mysterious one. The producer had his last live appearance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in 2018, where he headlined the beloved Colorado venue with his live band over two sold-out nights. Following those shows, Pretty Lights wiped his social media and began an unannounced hiatus, leaving his dedicated fans wondering when he would return. The official Pretty Lights tour will include two new types of performances: Pretty Lights in Dub and The Fantastic Pretty Lights, the latter of which is expected to be a collaboration with longtime friend Michal Menert and The Pretty Fantastics

“I’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time and am immensely grateful to be healthy and happy and surrounded by amazing people,” Smith said in a statement. “I feel recharged and more ready than ever to launch a new vision of PL music and live events. Can’t wait to share everything that’s coming. … It’s a new dawn and I can’t wait to see you all again shining bright.”

General public on-sale begins on Friday, April 7th at 10:00 a.m. local venue time. Tickets for the shows at The Caverns in Pelham, TN will go on sale at a later date, to be announced. Sign up on Seated for first access to pre-sales and stay tuned for further details.
