News By Stu Kelly / March 2, 2021 Suwannee Live has announced the return of Suwannee Rising and detailed the lineup for this year’s socially distant rendition, which is set to take place on April 8, 9, and 10, 2021 at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL. This event will be the second edition of Swanee Rising, which was originally launched in 2019 in order to replace the Wanee Festival. The artist lineup for Suwannee Rising 2021 includes Umphrey’s McGee (x2), Lettuce (x2), Goose (x2), Eric Krasno’s Chapter 2, Andy Frasco & The U.N., BIG Something (x2), and more. Music will be presented at two stages located next to each other in one of the venue’s large fields. The setting will allow for plenty of social distancing in what organizers are referring to as P.O.D.S. (Personal Outdoor Dance Space). Video screens will be set up so that attendees can easily watch any of the performances from their P.O.D.S. “When we canceled Suwannee Rising 2020, we never imagined the challenges it would present to society and especially the live music industry,” said festival organizer Paul Levine in a press release. “We viewed the situation with a glass half-full attitude, realistic but hopeful. No one wanted to accept a world without the live music experience. After producing two intimate post-Covid shows at the park and attending other drive-in events, we learned that while no one can eliminate 100% of risk from their lives, it is possible to produce a great show that fans, staff, and artists can attend and still dance and feel safe. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our musical community over the last year through the twists and turns of the Covid-19 pandemic.” Since 2020’s installment was forced to cancel, those holding tickets for Suwannee Rising 2020 will get first dibs on tickets/P.O.D.S. to this year’s event today. Tickets/P.O.D.S. go on sale to the general public this Wednesday, March 3 at 10 a.m. ET. Each P.O.D. includes four weekend tickets and primitive camping. P.O.D.S. can accommodate a maximum of six attendees, (so P.O.D. owners have the option of purchasing two extra tickets).
